Need some laid back atmospheric music for a drinks reception? We can provide you with a stripped down trio made up of some of Ireland’s finest jazz musicians or a two piece duo of vocals and guitar, playing a wide variety of music to ease your guests into the party.

Sophistafunk are back in The Purty Kitchen, Dun Laoghaire, on December 12th, 13th and 19th for another series of live performances. These dates are our last public gigs of 2019. Come dance your funky socks off with our amazing nine-piece band, as they blow the roof off the Purty Kitchen.

Sophistafunk The Ultimate Party Band

Sophistafunk were formed by a group of friends whose love of soul, funk and disco brought them together. Having played in a number of different bands together over the years, this rag-tag bag of musicians decided to form a funky party band that played the music they they loved to dance to, the only way they knew how; with maximum levels of funk.

We carefully picked our setlist and filled it to the brim with the funkiest dance floor hits, brought to life by our amazing lineup of musicians. Our philosophy is simple; great musicians, playing great songs, makes a great party.

Sophistafunk are available in a variety of incredible lineups to suit all budgets and tastes. You can pick our six-piece core lineup featuring, guitar, keyboards, female vocals, drums and one brass instrument or you can customise the lineup to suit your needs and add male vocals, and additional brass musicians to add more harmonies and musical textures to your party.

Our rhythm section of keyboards, bass, guitar and drums are the groove makers in this funky ensemble. The Sophistahorns add some serious storm-force wind to our base layer of funk. They recreate the devastating horn lines that made the sound of Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind and Fire, and Prince. Sophistafunk will keep your dancefloor hopping to the funkiest sounds with their decade spanning setlist.

Our vocalists are the icing on the cake. Emma Stack is an award winning vocalist, and Ger Proudfoot is the powerhouse behind legendary Dublin soul band Proudfoot. They bring the story of soul, disco and funk to life, night after night, venue after venue, party after party.

Each of our wedding music packages has been carefully crafted to offer exceptional musical entertainment and great value. All of our packages are available with the full range of lineups for Sophistafunk, from six-piece band, including one brass instrument, to the full nine-piece with male and female vocals and three brass instruments. The Studio 54: Named after the hedonistic paradise from the New York Disco scene, this is our premium package. It includes Ceremony Music, guitar and vocal drinks reception music, after dinner band, Sophistafunk and DJ. This includes all sound equipment hire and lights.
Knowing that all of your music entertainment is coming from one supplier means you can relax and spend your time enjoying the company of your guests.

The Double-A Side: Vinyl singles have two sides the A and the B with the A side usually intended to be the hit. Every once in a while there’s a diamond in the rough, the double-A side. Live Sophistafunk band and one of our resident DJs to keep your party hopping until the wee small hours.

33 RPM Events use only the highest quality sound equipment to ensure all of our performances meet the highest technical standards. Our front of house sound system is made by Italian speaker manufacturer K-Array and ensures a discreet appearance with a world class sound performance.
